Louise Greenaway is a talented Textile Artist. Each of her artworks stand alone but they all have the same strong theme and sit very well together. She draws her creative inspiration from a variety of sources, having traveled extensively in Central and South America, Europe and Asia .
Her love of primitive, ethnic pattern and colour is clearly apparent in her artworks. Her passion for fabric is not only due to its versatility of texture, colour and tactility, but delves deeper into composition. Louise likes to juxtapose natural and man-made fibres and experiment with how they react differently under certain conditions; i.e. burning.
Many of Louise's works use a decomposition technique where she builds up and peels back, layer upon layer. Each artwork is individual but most use variants of this theme: watercolour or acrylic paint on cotton or silk; then a sheer metallic or shot synthetic fabric is stitched on top in the same overall design and shape; more painting may be necessary at this point; burning away of various synthetic sections.
Louise will retail from time to time at the Designers Emporium, however if you would like to purchase one of her beautiful creations, please feel free to contact her.
